About Us
Philanthropy Associates, Inc. (PAI) was
founded in 2005 by veteran fund raising
professional and non-profit management
expert
Michael Gerrity.
Michael is a highly
regarded motivational speaker and a practical
professional who can help to obtain the
answers, direction, and specific results you need now.
He gets you immediate results and impacts.
After attending one of Michael's
1-day seminars, most organizations have been able to move forward
immediately. Many report raising another $100,000 (and
more) within three to six months of his work. He is
available for single day engagements.
Michael's public service career
spans more than 35 years. Prior to entering
the field of fund raising in 1984, Michael
held various positions in both the public
and private sectors. His diverse background
includes service as a special assistant to
U. S. Attorney General Elliot Richardson,
and as Director of Domestic Policy Analysis
during the Carter Administration. Prior to
that, Michael served as a management program
officer and grants analyst for three
agencies of the U.S. Department of Justice.
After his White House service, he became a
legislative analyst and lobbyist serving a
wide variety of Fortune 500 firms.
In 2000, Michael earned the
highest possible fund raising rating and
certification level—the Advanced
Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE).
Over 200 non-profit
enterprises, professional groups, and boards
throughout the United States have benefited
from Michael’s talents. He is well respected
as a motivational speaker—especially for
boards of directors, volunteer
organizations, and sales forces.
Michael has authored several
articles about fund raising, with special
emphasis on capital campaigns, strategic
planning, measuring and obtaining
cost-effectiveness, board effectiveness,
empowering boards, and showing staff and
volunteers how to enjoy the fund raising
process. In 2004 his highly regarded guide
on measuring and managing fund raising
return on investment (ROI) was awarded the
prestigious national Brakeley Award
for contributions to the field of
philanthropy.
